I’m here with a story to tell today

Being the eldest in my family, I grew up as a very thrifty girl (Bet you can’t tell)
Back in those days when I was 14 or 15, shopping to me was an yearly activity- during Chinese New Year.
Not that my parents wouldn’t give, I just wouldn’t ask. (Because I know that we couldn’t afford luxury at that point of time)
After all, I’m donning school uniform on weekdays, it was never exactly necessary to me.
“Need over want”- the golden rule that I follow, even until now.

Ever heard of a girl that hates shopping? I do.

I’m extremely particular about my dressing which makes me too fussy over any outfits.

If anything catches my eyes- like a love at first sight, it’s probably out of the budget.
Then again, I rarely wear my outfits for the second time,
I see no point in spending so much on something that I’m only gonna wear once.
Even when I’m set out for a shopping spree, I could still walk around the entire mall the whole day and return with my hands empty. This happens so frequently, I find shopping too much of a hassle and waste of time.

So back in 7 or 8 years ago, “This Fashion” used to be my one stop station for shopping.
Do people now still know of it’s existence? It’s like a budget shop with all range of clothes below the price of $20~
It made my life so much easier; grabbing just 10 to 20 pieces at a go from this one place would last me for the year.
(Don’t judge, I’ve been through that phase too. LOL)

Innocent, like any other sweet young things- I was 14…
When I started dating and going out with a guy I liked that time, he would bring his friend along to pick me up from my place.
The first thing that he said to me when we met: “Hey girl, your bag doesn’t match your outfit. Go back and change.”
His friend: “Aiya, it’s just a bag, never mind… At least she looks good!”
Him: “Please, her clothes are so cheap, all from This Fashion! Nothing in her wardrobe ever exceeds $20.”

………Yes, I went back to change my bag.

But that was me, still green and naive- definitely not who I am today.
Because I know what I’m wearing, I know it looks good and it’s priceless.

“The brand’s Confidence.”

The only things that I’m willing to splurge on are my branded bags and shoes, which are worthy and durable (Also because I can afford them with my own money today). Most importantly, I can wear them more than once.
Even until today, I can confidently tell you that most of the outfits that I purchase on my own accord, cost nothing more than $20. (The expensive and branded ones are sponsored by my advertisers)

Which is why it boils down to today’s feature on my $10 grabs.
I believe: “The price never determines how good you look in them.”

Thank these people that constantly try to bring you down. Without them, you wouldn’t have a need to prove them wrong.
From starting my retail businesses and today, owning an online fashion magazine, e-commerce and maybe even wholesale…
His insults were part of my great motivation.

Check out the preview of our online magazine here, official re-launch in April :)

Embrace your beliefs and work towards it, no one can tell you otherwise- it’s your life.

Love on Wheels: Zoom zoom with a heart

Passion Motoring’s Charity Drive!

Woke up early (6am) on a recent weekend to be part of this fabulous event-
where 42 cars, come together for something really meaningful!

With Twinnie- Silver Ang in a team!
Glad that she asked me along, yet another weekend well spent~

Shoot me? Back at ya!

Let’s go check out some of the very enthusiastic participants~
There’s a best dressed contest going on, which explains the deco of the cars and costumes:

While the both of us came with hearts filled with love!
Bet you can tell right, even though we don’t have the “embellishments” on the outside. Hahaha..

My simple prince charming with just event decals:

~100 of us making our weekend-worth instead of sleeping it away!

We are having a “Love on Wheels Amazing Race”!
Funky team ready to zoom off:

First challenge- Solve the crossword puzzle at sponsor’s showroom for the clue to our 2nd destination:

Yay task completed!
Next, delivering the basic necessities to the friendly people at Cheshire Home:

In return, we get the opportunity to learn how to make “cupcake towels” from them :D

Woohoo! Look at us with our approved cupcakes!!!
They disqualified most of mine though.. Too nice also cannot? HAHAHAHA

Adding the “toppings”:

The final results! Contribution from all of us.
They will be selling our “artwork”~ hehehe

3rd stop: Memory challenge!

After bagging all the goodies,
we headed over to pick up our lucky elderly from the old folks home!

We found her, number 29!

Taking them for a spin around Singapore!

Something that I’ve always wanted to do for my granny… Ah Ma didn’t manage to wait till I get my car.
If only I could take her around and "吃风" like that as well :’)

We went past Singapore Flyer, Lao Pa Sat, Esplanade etc..
Finally arriving at our dinner venue!

It’s really nice to have the old folks experience this:

Such an eventful day!
We took the responsibility to send them back and visit their families as well:

Granny’s very camera-shy but very polite and obedient grandchildren:

Mission Accomplished :D~

Once again, with the Passion Motoring Community.
I quote James Koh: “The purpose of life is not just to be happy - but to matter, to be productive, to be useful, to make some difference. By participating in Love of Wheels, we have lived at all!”

Very often indeed, we “zoomed” past too many things around us.
Slow down and take a look around, you might realize that your little contribution could mean a ton to someone.
Charity isn’t just about giving, we gained something in return as well ;)

I would take some time off and do this all over again. Will you?
