I’m here with a story to tell today
Being the eldest in my family, I grew up as a very thrifty girl (Bet you can’t tell)
Back in those days when I was 14 or 15, shopping to me was an yearly activity- during Chinese New Year.
Not that my parents wouldn’t give, I just wouldn’t ask. (Because I know that we couldn’t afford luxury at that point of time)
After all, I’m donning school uniform on weekdays, it was never exactly necessary to me.
“Need over want”- the golden rule that I follow, even until now.
Ever heard of a girl that hates shopping? I do.
I’m extremely particular about my dressing which makes me too fussy over any outfits.
If anything catches my eyes- like a love at first sight, it’s probably out of the budget.
Then again, I rarely wear my outfits for the second time,
I see no point in spending so much on something that I’m only gonna wear once.
Even when I’m set out for a shopping spree, I could still walk around the entire mall the whole day and return with my hands empty. This happens so frequently, I find shopping too much of a hassle and waste of time.
So back in 7 or 8 years ago, “This Fashion” used to be my one stop station for shopping.
Do people now still know of it’s existence? It’s like a budget shop with all range of clothes below the price of $20~
It made my life so much easier; grabbing just 10 to 20 pieces at a go from this one place would last me for the year.
(Don’t judge, I’ve been through that phase too. LOL)
Innocent, like any other sweet young things- I was 14…
When I started dating and going out with a guy I liked that time, he would bring his friend along to pick me up from my place.
The first thing that he said to me when we met: “Hey girl, your bag doesn’t match your outfit. Go back and change.”
His friend: “Aiya, it’s just a bag, never mind… At least she looks good!”
Him: “Please, her clothes are so cheap, all from This Fashion! Nothing in her wardrobe ever exceeds $20.”
………Yes, I went back to change my bag.
But that was me, still green and naive- definitely not who I am today.
Because I know what I’m wearing, I know it looks good and it’s priceless.
“The brand’s Confidence.”
The only things that I’m willing to splurge on are my branded bags and shoes, which are worthy and durable (Also because I can afford them with my own money today). Most importantly, I can wear them more than once.
Even until today, I can confidently tell you that most of the outfits that I purchase on my own accord, cost nothing more than $20. (The expensive and branded ones are sponsored by my advertisers)
Which is why it boils down to today’s feature on my $10 grabs.
I believe: “The price never determines how good you look in them.”
Thank these people that constantly try to bring you down. Without them, you wouldn’t have a need to prove them wrong.
From starting my retail businesses and today, owning an online fashion magazine, e-commerce and maybe even wholesale…
His insults were part of my great motivation.
