Marc Newson’s Fashion Show

 

 

Marc Newson (1963-) was born in Sydney, Australia.

He is a successful industrial designer who works in aircraft design, product design, furniture design, jewellery, and clothing.

He incorporates a design style known as biomorphism to his various designs.

This style uses smooth flowing lines, translucency, transparency and tends to have an absence of sharp edges.

 

In 2005, he was selected as one of TIME magazine's 100 most influential people of the year.

In 2007, he completed the cabin design for the 'Sky Jet', an airline/rocketship (by EADS Astrium) planning to take passengers into space from 2012.

 

 

Such an inspiration! I’m still in awe by all his achievements thus far!

Thank god Lawrence; stuff magazine’s publisher brought me along to this eye opening event.

It was indeed an honour to be able to see this talented designer up close, together with his creations ♥

 

Everyone’s so prim and proper, mostly donned in suits and gowns with the hair perfectly done up.

EXCEPT ME, BECAUSE LAW TOLD ME TO COME IN CASUAL! :(

and I can go about indulging myself with the SPREAD!

THE SEAFOOD SECTION’s just totally irresistible!

We just stood there and before we could realize it,

the food just kept going into our mouth, spoonful after spoonfuls.

 

Strawberries stuck onto a watermelon, that resembles a gorgeous bouquet.

Yea, I contributed by plucking out the super fresh and juicy strawberry (My favourite)!

 

 

I took none of this. I hate chocolates, though Law exclaimed about the goodness.

 

 

Then the much anticipated moment came!

I totally adore the classiness/funkiness within the simplicity of his creations.

It’s just so wearable daily and yet eye-catching all at the same time.

Highlight of the day is none other than: “Newson unveils his Hourglass”

 

The Ikepod Hourglass is a remarkable and luxurious 60 minute counter

made up of high-grade glass with “sand” that consists of carbon or nickel-plated nanoballs.

• Cervical cancer is the 6th most common cancer among women in Singapore.
•Every 2 days, one woman is diagnosed with cervical cancer in Singapore,
while more than one woman dies from cervical cancer every 5 days.

 

Our very own SG's female magician,

Magic babe-Ning was one of our very own POCC's ambassador.

I couldn't agree more with her views.

I’ve finally managed to bust the myth!

That was my motive of the day!

To bust the myth that has been circulating by my seniors.

I too, went for a medical check-up during my career in the airlines' industry.

And the doctor suggested us for the vaccination against cervical cancer;

we were informed that it's prone towards female in the early 20s,

especially due to our lifestyle at the current age.

I was sceptical about it and decided against the injection.

But undeniably, I was wrong (what if your 1st sexual partner was sexually active before he met you?

And you being very unfortunate, gets infected on your very 1st time?)

•About 80% of women will come in contact with the virus at least once in their lifetime.
•Your risk starts the second you become sexually active: it doesn’t matter how young/old you are or the lifestyle you lead.
•Condoms are not fully protective against HPV infection.

Why allow the "what if''s" to haunt you,

if a single vaccination could solve all worries?

I would never allow my loved ones to go through this.
