Igniting the Sparks in Your Relationship is the Key to Maintenance
(Cheating usually happens when one gets bored of the other and begins it’s search for new interest)
Here's a great article from one of the featured authors on Blogcritics, Melody Brooke. Melody is a Professional, Marriage and Family Counselor.
Her approach uses body, mind, and spirit to help her clients heal themselves with her gentle and compassionate guidance.
This article provides practical steps to ignite, or keep that spark, in your relationship. This is a must-read article that is guaranteed to improve your relationship (assuming you are willing to take action.)
***************
It doesn’t matter how excited you are about your partner if you can’t stay on the same wavelength and keep a connection over time. Finding the right person is really less than half of what it takes to stay connected with someone. In working with couples and families over the past 18 years it has become clear to me that being in love, or even just loving someone, isn’t enough to keep the relationship going.
To maintain that magical feeling of love and special-ness in a relationship we have to be willing to take 150% ownership of the quality of the connection in our relationships. There are certain things we have to be willing to do and to continue doing if it is our intention to stay in love and in connection with our chosen partner.
The exciting thing is that it doesn’t matter if your relationship is only six months old or if it's 20 years old, these things will work to deepen your connection. And you don’t have to wait for the other person to do them, it’s not about what the other person does or doesn’t do. It’s about you deciding that you want to maintain that connection, and being willing to take that 150% ownership.
Here’s two main factors that we will be focusing for today’s topic:
1) Love is an action: Show your partner how you feel about them every day, at least once a day. Do this even if you are in different states or countries. Show your care, don’t just speak it. Saying “I love you” doesn’t deepen a connection unless it’s accompanied by actions. Leave love notes under your partner’s pillow when you are going to be out of town. Make sure the tires in his car have enough air in them before he leaves town. Hug her every time she walks in the door. Think to get her favourite flower once in a while, for no reason. Fix the leak in the bathroom he’s been complaining about. Wipe up the counter and pick up after yourself like she has been asking.
2) We are all kids at heart: Recognize that no matter how grown up your partner seems, they are really a little kid inside. (Oh yes, and so are you.) We are all really just kids that have bodies that have aged. Inside all of us are the unmet needs of our childhood as well as the playful, spontaneous, joyful child that we once were. Throughout the time you spend with your partner, see if you can notice the kid inside them. Respond to that kid just as you would to a kid who has not yet grown older.
Instead of just sharing these tips with you,
at Green Light Movement, we would reveal our personal experience in each topic.
To motivate others on improving their relationship lifestyle, we can only start with ourselves!
Recently, the boyfriend organized a special trip for just the two of us,
“Returning to the 70s, Vintage Experience”!
This is an entire package that kick starts from the day:

We had our favourite Bak Kut Teh in claypot style for lunch first:

After lunch, we drove all the way into a seemingly abandoned area:
It’s the KAMPONG in Singapore!
Yes, I was surprised too, it still exists!!!
How cute!! The Letter Box!
These houses looked like they were purposely built for dramas or shows (e.g. The little Nonya):

It felt like a one day trip away from Singapore,
the village-feel makes everything so surreal:
Even the kittens looked so peaceful as they relaxed at their chosen corners:

Who’s that peeping Tom!?
How very adorable!
Almost each house kept at least a dog, but they were all super hardworking; bark at all passer-by
Doesn’t this image below reminds you of a scene in “Pirates of the Caribbean”?

Are you ready to take a step in and explore further?
Come with me…
Alright, I guess it’s not too late for you to find out that this is actually where I stay?
Chillaxing on a lazy afternoon, as usual…
And I’ll also pick up my tools at times, for some gardening:
Who am I kidding? I can only dream about staying here ![]()
I can’t even do simple gardening to begin with… Cries

Wow, I wonder how much would a house like this cost now?
With a ginormous backyard of your own!

You can even start your own fire; olden-style and bake sweet potatoes!!!

What?! There’s even a mini adventure playground!!!
The Tyre Hopscotch:

And even a kids-sized doll house!

In case you’re wondering, there are real people staying here!

PLUS: They were all super warm and welcoming!
Not only were they not upset about us intruding their life,
they even offered to help us with the camera!
They were also totally fine about the "kid in me” playing around with their swing.
Yea, it’s just the kid in me.

Do not be mistaken by the outlook of this place. The residents here are definitely not poor.
They are just people who prefer to bask in the laid-back ambiance, away from the common city life
Why my ancestors never “Chop” – (Meaning; Reserve, in Singlish) this place for me last time?

Lastly, before we left the place, we took a souvenir home:

Of course we didn’t!
Please do not take anything that doesn’t belong to you from this awesome place!
Worry not about leaving empty handed, you will be filled with beautiful memories; like us ♥

To round this unforgettable trip up…
We made our way down, for a theme-related dinner.

Referring to point 1,
Constant reminder of how much you love each other, with little actions like this:

I have always passed by this cosy restaurant during the “The Little Nonya” period
and told myself that I would definitely come here one day.

The boyfriend was unaware about this but made a reservation here to match the 70s theme.
How coincidental is that?
His family used to patronize and they’ve brought him here pretty often when he was younger.

I LOVE IT! ♥
Everything was so in tuned towards the “Vintage Experience”.
Even the food tasted so traditional and fragrant!

Don’t take your relationship and love for granted.
This love marathon could go on for a life time if you put in effort and rekindle the sparks.
Of course, you can give up, run towards a finishing line and partake another marathon (cheat on your partner)
Truth is, every marathon (relationship) is the same.
It’s the scenery (the activities you do in a relationship) that makes the difference.
Brought to you by, Green Light Movement
